Collaborating with sneaker boutiques around the world and making the releases extremely limited added to the mystique of bringing back the Reebok Pump for it's 20th Anniversary. I liked the Colette and Juice Pumps the most I think, but pretty much all of them were sweet. Don't you agree?

Say what you want about Supra "not being about the skater anymore" and their shoes being "overhyped", yada yada yada. Well I'm a fan of Supra and my favorite Supra is the Skytop. So when I heard they were coming out with a Skytop II I couldn't help but be full of anticipation. And I can't say they let me down. Making the first release limited just added to the excitement of the drop and I can appreciate the risk that Supra took in looking to transform a shoe that has been such a successful mainstay for their line. And they did it with success!

This shoe made my list (not because I'm a huge Kanye fan) because a RAPPER collaborated with one of the most popular and influential design houses in the entire world to make a shoe!! I mean yeah Jay-Z and 50 Cent may have joined with Reebok, and Eminem may have teamed up with Jordan Brand,but Kanye got with LOUIS VUITTON!! How crazy is that???!! I could've put every shoe from the collection on here, but me being the high top sneaker fan that i am....i went with the Jaspers. They're not "high" tops exactly, but you get what I mean, compared to the two other shoes in his Louis V collection. I like the grey and pink pair the best, but I think they're both great. Too bad I won't b able to afford these any time soon. lol

I think this shoe was EXTREMELY underrated!! First off, I think this is a great-looking trainer shoe. Secondly, I'm a sucker for glow in the dark. So that's why this shoe made my countdown. I love the detail of the designs on the shoe and just think it's a sweet shoe. Straight up. The one thing I don't like is how that Nike only released these in the Philippines.

Sooo....I know we're well into 2010, but I was looking at all these Top Sneakers of 2009 lists and realized I never made one of my own. And thought it may be kinda late I said F it cuz it's my blog and "I'll do what I want!" lol So here's my top 10. Hope you enjoy and maybe even agree with a couple. But if not...oh well cuz it's MY LIST!

#10: TK Supra
When I first saw this shoe I fell in love!! I nagged my girlfriend at tha time about getting them because she said she was going to get them for me as an anny gift but I was like...if you're not getting them then let me know because I'll just do it myself so I don't miss out. However, it turned out that the shoe was MASS produced (sever understatement) so "missing out" wasn't even an option. That mass production is the reason why it's #10 on my list. I appreciate Supra and Terry Kennedy for making the sure accessible to fans of the shoe and TK alike, but I feel like there could have been a better middle ground between Yeezy availability and Chuck Taylor All Star availability. Plus I think they went too far with the various colorways. I think the best colorways are the two pictured here and the black suede boys. Other than those....I'll #Stockton

Now usually I use this holiday to express to friends of mine how it's kind of messed up that we use this day to celebrate the life of a man who basically stole a country that already belonged to someone else and then introduced greed, disease, racism, etc. to the indigenous people of this country. Don't get me wrong tho, because had he not started this snowball effect of pilferage and European greed upon American land, I perhaps would not be here today as a remnant piece of that White Anglo Saxon avalanche if you will. I mean had he not "claimed" the U.S. as a new land there would have never been further exploration by Europeans so soon, never would've been slavery, and never would've been a Louisiana slave owner by the name of LaFlore (this is just my theory of how my family got its name.) And there would've never been a Civil War, Civil Rights Movements, Barack Obama, "etc. etc. etc." (c) Yul Brenner in "The King & I."

But anyway I surely digress because the purpose of this post was actually to discuss the irony of how 500 years after Columbus proved the world was not flat, we're BACK to saying that it is! At least in theory. Written by Thomas L. Friedman, The World Is Flat, is a book which analyzes globalization of the world economy and how technology has helped to "flatten" the global playing field for companies; breaking down barriers in a sense. He created a 10-point list of things contributing to this "flattening" of the world and the one that stood out to me was "#10: The Steroids" as he called them. These steroids refer to personal digital devices like mobile phones, iPods, personal digital assistants and instant messaging. As a 24 year-old you could see why these would stand out to me because I love all of these things! The fact that I'm even writing this blog exhibits that fact! But I like to look at how it flattens the world socially, not just economically. In 1492, Columbus would've never imagined that his speech upon landing in America could've been as such: "The future is now! Soon every American home will integrate their television, phone and computer. You'll be able to visit the Louvre on one channel, or watch female wrestling on another. You can do your shopping at home, or play Mortal Kombat with a friend from Vietnam. There's no end to the possibilities!" (c) Jim Carrey in "Cable Guy." So I've said all of this for 2 reasons. 1: just to rant about Columbus Day because I felt like it. and 2: Because I think the irony of us going so far to prove the world was not flat has led to us inadvertently creating a new flat world.

Now look...I know this may be an ignorant/random rant but I just felt it necessary to express my opinion on this matter....Size XS should not exist for grown men!!! I repeat!!.....Size Extra Small should not exist for grown men!! I originally became opposed to the men's XS while working at the Gap and I came across some shirts in the men's section that were that size. WTF??? I mean if companies want to go along with the "tighter is cooler" theme then why not just be like Forever 21/Heritage 1981 and make your sizes fit small? That way.....a guy who is little in stature may be able to ask for a Small shirt without having to sound dainty in asking for an Extra Small. Just look at the words: Extra Small. "Yeah, man....that shirt is small, but this shirt is EXTRA small!" It even SOUNDS ridiculous! I know this was random, but I just wanted to give you all a brief look into the mind of Jason.

A Jacksonville researcher has developed a way of sewing up patients after hysterectomies that stands to reduce the risk of complications and simplify the tricky procedure for less-seasoned surgeons. Oh, and he's 14 years old. Feel free to read that again. Tony Hansberry II is a ninth-grader who, as it happens, will be presenting his findings today before an auditorium filled with doctors just like any of his board-certified - and decades older - colleagues would. He would say he was following in the footsteps of "Doogie Howser, M.D." - if he weren't too young to have heard of the television show. Instead, he says that his remarkable accomplishments are merely steps toward his ultimate goal of becoming a University of Florida-trained neurosurgeon. "I just want to help people and be respected, knowing that I can save lives," said Tony, the son of a registered nurse mom and an African Methodist Episcopal church pastor dad. To be sure, he had some help along the way, but, then again, most researchers do. The seeds of his project were planted last summer during his internship at the University of Florida's Center for Simulation Education and Safety Research, based at Shands Jacksonville. To understand why a teenager would be a hospital intern, it's important to know that Tony is a student down the street from Shands at Darnell-Cookman Middle/High School, a magnet school geared toward all things medical. (Students, for example, master suturing by the eighth grade.) At the simulation center, where medical residents and nurses practice on dummies, the normally shy student warmed up to the center's administrative director, Bruce Nappi. In turn, Nappi, a problem-solver with a Massachusetts Institute of Technology aeronautics degree, found someone willing to learn. One day, an obstetrics and gynecology professor asked the pair to help him figure out why no one was using a handy device that looks like a dipstick with clamps at the end, called an endo stitch, for sewing up hysterectomy patients. In other procedures, it proved its worth for its ability to grip pieces of thread and maneuverability. What Tony did next is so complicated that the professor who suggested the project has to resort to a metaphor to explain it: "Instead of buttoning your shirt side to side, what about doing it up and down?" Brent Seibel said. Here's the literal explanation: The problem was that the endo stitch couldn't clamp down properly to close the tube where the patient's uterus had been. Tony figured that by suturing the tube vertically instead of horizontally, it could be done. And he was right. Nappi said he came up with the idea but didn't tell Tony, letting him come to the conclusion himself. "It was truly independent that he figured it out," Nappi said, adding that a representative for the device's manufacturer told him that the endo stitch had never been used for that purpose. Tony's unpracticed hands were able to stitch three times faster with the endo stitch vs. the conventional needle driver. Further study may prove whether the same is true for more experienced surgeons, Seibel said. In addition to cutting surgical time, the technique may help surgeons who don't do many hysterectomies because it's easier to use the endo stitch, he added. Tony's presentation today is part of UF's medical education week, a time to spotlight teaching advancements, a hospital spokeswoman said. Tony often speaks in the highly technical, dispassionate language of doctors. In that respect, he's not the exception but the rule at Darnell-Cookman, said Angela TenBroeck, the school's medical lead teacher. But he has surged ahead of others when it comes to surgical skills. "I would put him up against a first-year med student," she said. "He's an outstanding young man, and I'm proud to have him representing us."

And as I put the magazine away I noticed one copy of the new Complex magazine cover with Keri Hilson and Kid Cudi sittin' there! I didn't even know we sold Complex at my store so I HAD to snatch it up! Then I looked on the bottom shelf and noticed this Hall of Fame Collector's ESPN Magazine all about Jordan so that had to get copped as well! Decadent Decade: 1930s

I'd have to say that the movie Idlewild definitely made me fall in love with the fashion of the 1930s. Not to be all on his team or nothin', but Andre 3000 just really made the style of the 30s pop. Part of me sometimes wishes that we could go back to a time where it was customary for a man to have on a suit whenever he left the house and a hat adorning the top of his head 95% of the time. And in this case I'm not referring to fitteds. lol. I mean fedoras and pork pie hats. Stuff like that. Now I can't say that I'm too fond of the double breasted suit look of the 30s. And I most likely couldn't pull off the high-waisted pants due to my Carlton Banks stature, but still....there's just something about this era of fashion that I'm drawn too. Like I said before....perhaps it was just the movie Idlewild that did it to me. But I do like the long tails of the tuxedos. Not for EVERY event, but it sure seemed a classy look to hit 'em with from time to time. One style from the 30s that I KNOW I'd love to rock back then, however, is the plus fours! Man! I fell like I'd be able to put together a mean fit with those. For those of you wondering what those are, plus fours are trousers that extend 4 inches (10 cm) below the knee (and thus four inches longer than traditional knickerbockers, hence the name). I took that from Wikipedia. lol. You may also know them as "golf pants." I think the vest look of the 30s works for me too. As many of you may know that I'm certainly a fan of vest since I'm frequently seen rocking them during nights on the town. But with all that in mind, I'd have to say that I love looking back at previous decades and seeing what kind of fashions and styles were in at the time; especially when you start to notice them coming back and influencing today's fashion. Sorry, ladies for not focusing too much on your 30s-wear, but I couldn't have worn your clothes anyway so tough cookies! lol Naw I'm just playin'. I may throw some women's clothing in for the next decade I highlight. But until then....enjoy!

Reebok's Got To Stop!!!!

Now I'll admit....when the Reebok Ex-O-Fit first hit the internet with pictures of it's black, pink, and red colorways I was a little intrigued. I thought, "Hmm...this shoe might not be so bad." But then I saw some more detailed pictures and saw them in person....FAIL!! However, the shoe still hadn't quite reached "o my God will somebody put it out of it's misery" status. That is until now! What is this Reebok x Atmos collaboration with the glow in the dark sole and star galaxy colorway all about??? I mean I know the Air Yeezy caught a lot of head turns with the glow in the dark sole, Reebok, but it ain't for everybody! Please just stick to the Omni Pumps and Reverse Jams in the future. Opinion stated.

Well....I'm back for another installment! lol In this case, however, I'm having a bit of a problem with the chipped fingernail polish. Ladies!!! Can we PLEASE just remove the nail polish once you start to see that it's not holding up anymore??!!! UUUGGHHH!!! Sorry for that, but I like to give you all an InSite as to the inner workings of my head and how I feel about some things. lol

I know I don't have too many followers, but this questions been on my mind for a while and I thought I'd ask people for some feedback just because I'm curious and I think it's a funny topic....What's one item of clothing that you own and when you look at it today, if u haven't already gotten rid of it, makes you say, "What was I thinking??!!!" I think Kevin Spacey is great in this 1999 dark comedy about a man going through a mid-life crisis as his daughter searches to find herself, and his wife looks for alternate means of excitement. If you haven't by now....please check this one out. It's certainly one of my favorite movies. Enjoy...

Unacceptable Behavior

I saw a woman at work wearing a strapless top with a bra that had clear straps. This is definitely one of my pet peeves with women along with chipped fingernail paint but that's another post all in itself. lol. But anyway....what's the point of the clear bra strap????? I mean....WE CAN STILL SEE THE BRA STRAP!! So what's the point in making it clear? lol. If you just HAVE to wear the wrong bra with your fit, then you may as well just wear a colored one that matches the fit or something. UGH! Who thought these things were OK to wear as a substitute for having the wrong undergarments and a way to "get one over" on the public like we won't notice the "invisible" strap?? lol Sorry for the rant.....just had to get my opinion out there. I know someone out there agrees with me.
